It's trivial to have automake include MT/manifest in the distribution.
Note however that sometimes you don't actually want to ship every file
in source control. E.g., you might check in an "README.alpha" file
that you only want to distribute in certain releases.
But, yeah, some meaningful automake/monotone interaction is probably
possible and worthwhile.
