Haven't looked extremely much into it, but I believe that if you
replace lua.cc with the stuff you need, you could have whatever
scripting language you like.
I'm not sure I'd recommend it, though. I don't know much about Python
(I'm allergic to the syntax, so I'm staying away from it), but I can
imagine some Lua-specific things might be difficult to abstract to
Python.
