A friend of mine has asked a question: how popular are workflows, web 
services etc. In biology
She wanted clear indicators such as:

- Number of biological laboratories using web services / workflows
- Number of researchbiological papers that contain services / workflows 
in method section

Has anyone made such analysis?
If not, what can I present instead?
