If you need some Java code let me know. We can strip out the API bindings code 
from the myExperiment Plugin for Taverna.

For easy access to REST APIs in Ruby, try something like Wrest
(https://github.com/kaiwren/wrest) or rest-client 
(https://github.com/archiloque/rest-client).
