  You were correct about this. Once I got the older version of the libraries
installed it worked like a charm.

This can be caused by also using a version of STLPort higher than 4.5.3 with

Visual Studio 6
Any version higer than 4.5.3 of STLPort causes these exact errors.
4.5.4 and above work with visual studio 7.0 and greater.
