Looks like we're all set then, guys!
Time to discover the Infinite Improbability engine. (If anyone doesn't
get htis analogy, read "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy", before I
throttle you). Don't take this as "let's get lynched".
Incidentally, I've found that the most recent release tarball is newer
than cvs (anyone else notice this?), or at least looks like it.
As for ideas (¿ideas ¡ ideas r us (Inc Pty u'Ltd)), I've started UI
stuff with GTK+ 2.0 (forward looking man i am ¿ mentioned already -
think not), and would like to continue with that. I'm looking at
trying to implement a 'socket' (as in ui socket) interface for a
pluggable ui. At this stage, I haven't done much -- but when I have
you'll be sure to know about it. Bear with me, as I don't really take
C 'seriously' - I may make pitfalls that kill things, and I'll take a
while to build a solid model. As a side to this, I'll be trying to
achieve a 'tracker' ui -- not like a classic tracker, but more like a
dynamic combination of stuff similar to Buzz' pattern and sequence
editors, including a 'master track' that functions very similarly the
Buzz' sequencer, but with dynamic tracks instead of static. ie, you
can but any pattern in any track. If anyone want to expand on this,
feel free, but i think i've been verbose enough already. Please hold
in mind that this would be just 'one' ui plug, the piano roll editor
could still be implemented -- in fact, i think it would be nice to have
a standard pattern/sequence engine that each UI could be plugged into,
so that ui method's can be mixed, matched, and coexist in the same
sequence. This may take some major modification of the core, but I
haven't really looked at the internal workings of it yet.
If anyone wants me to sketch this out graphically, just holler and i'll
try and make a clear sketch and put it on my site.
Greetz aproprias,
