Follow-up Comment #2, bug #31575 (project octave):

I'm getting a strange side effect with the FLTK backend.  If I use the
two-line example you posted then the call to text causes the plot to
disappear.  This does not happen with the gnuplot backend.  It also doesn't
happen if I call text normally after plot without the "units", "normalized"
option.  Once text has been called once then the subsequent call to text with
the normalized option works.
