Follow-up Comment #11, bug #33533 (project octave):
I agree about the "license managers and artificial black boxes". Nevertheless,
I still use Matlab 99% of the time because Octave graphical capabilities (at
least from what I have seen) do not come close to Matlab (although Matlab is
actually only relying on Java and the graphics are actually pretty poor). I
think it is too bad that Octave has tried to stick with GNUPLOT which a tool
from the 80s. I have seen other preliminary solutions under Octave but they
are not mature. Java would be the way to go.
