Details:
There must be a way to specify a path to mkoctfile when compiling the gui,
either passing it in to qmake or make, via command line or the environment,
e.g.
qmake MKOCTFILE=/opt/octave-3.7.0+/bin/mkoctfile-3.7.0+
If not given, it should use the default of "mkoctfile". I know qmake allows
passing variables on the command line like this, but it apparently don't
override the default value hard-coded in the .pro file. Looked for a few
minutes but haven't found a solution yet. Need the equivalent of "=?" or
"ifndef" for qmake syntax.
I think this is essential for developers and packagers who are almost
definitely working with multiple builds of Octave at any given time and want
to link with the right one.
