Details:

Lines that start % or # are displayed in gray/parses as comments in the editor
view.

lines within a multiline block are not.
ie:
%{  <- is gray
x=1 <- is shown as would be without the comment
%}  <- is gray

Matlab 'grays'/displays everything within the block as a comment.
