Follow-up Comment #1:
I notice you have filed several bugs against plotting with gnuplot. Octave
has been moving away from gnuplot steadily since the 3.6.X series. Partly
because the interface is slow as it has to be run over pipes. And partly
because we don't have as much control over the appearance as we do with the
much more tightly integrated OpenGL plot engines in FLTK or Qt. It's fine to
report these, but I know the core developers aren't working on further gnuplot
integration.
