Follow-up Comment #6, bug #42583 (project octave):

So it occurs that the problem is actually in the Cygwin C library which
implements log2 in terms of log (I discover at this occasion that log2 has
been standardized in C99 and C++11). Should I send a bug report to the Cygwin
mailing list?
