Follow-up Comment #13, bug #42589 (project octave):
I would vote to apply this back on the stable branch. It's small, but its the
kind of thing that I could see getting bad press for Octave. Even though
2e-17 wouldn't make a difference in a calculation, people expect to see zero
out of this kind of expression. I think since the constructor is protected
you are correct in saying we could preserve binary compatibility.
