Follow-up Comment #28, bug #42589 (project octave):
Perhaps "psychological" was the wrong word. Maybe "expectations" would have
been a better choice. It's always been my feeling that we need to change
Octave's behavior because, even though we are doing a perfectly acceptable
calculation that gets within eps of the exact value, people expect a different
result. And when they can get the result they expect from other tools like
Matlab or Python we end up looking bad.
