Update of bug #42612 (project octave):

                  Status:                    None => Confirmed              
                 Summary: clf after subplot with legend gives "error: invalid
handle" => clf after subplot with "outside" legend gives "error: invalid
handle"

Follow-up Comment #1:

Thanks for your bug report. Confirmed on default, works correctly on
gui-release. Only affects legend with an "outside" position set.
