Follow-up Comment #8, bug #38449 (project octave):

The patch has never been pushed, and it is a good thing.

I had a look a few days ago to this bug and found that my approach was wrong:
it makes octave behavior independent of the order in which the default
properties have been set by the user (which doesn't match matlab behavior).
I'll propose a neww patch in the coming days/week.
