Follow-up Comment #1:
This doesn't happen with the FLTK toolkit. You might try using
graphics_toolkit fltk
at the start of the script as an option. Or you can use the drawnow() call.
In any case, this is another example of why Octave developers are trying to
switch away from using the gnuplot toolkit. I'm not sure this will be fixed,
but I'll mark the bug as confirmed.
