Follow-up Comment #7, bug #42867 (project octave):
I just tried with gvim on my machine and realized what is probally the issue.
You need quotes around the editors name if it has spaces in the path, so on my
machine:
"c:\Program files (x86)\vim\vim73\gvim.exe" %f
