Follow-up Comment #9, bug #38928 (project octave):

@Mike: Could you post the error log for the build around the problem in
libinterp/corefcn?  Also, what is the value of HDF5_CPPFLAGS in
libinterp/Makefile?  Did you re-run bootstrap and configure after updating to
the new Debian locations for HDF5 files?
