Sorry for a late reply to your question, which was

be created on-the-fly automatically when writing to a new .ods file? "
I am trying to write to an existing .ods file in an existing subdirectory
different from octave's current work directory.
So the file and its subdirectory do already exist.
Now I tried the same procedure in two different folders on /tmp, and there was
success. Then i tried the same in yet two other different folders within the
homedir tree, and there was the error message again.
Do you think there might be permission problems? I looked into this briefly,
but couldn't find something. Which user is evoking zip to write to the file?
