Follow-up Comment #5, bug #42340 (project octave):

I submitted a changeset in March which explained how
to use 'pslatex'
          'epslatex'
          'pdflatex'
          'pslatexstandalone'
          'epslatexstandalone'
          'pdflatexstandalone'
but, this may not have been applied to the stable branch.
