Q: did you try to actually press one of f, b or q, as the line seems to
suggest?
This is simply the pager (holding up input until you press e.g., f or q). So
it is expected behavior. It is even a feature.
To turn this of, enter the command "more off". Then Octave behaves like
Matlab: scrolling -if needed- 10,000 lines without giving you a chance to read
what is passing by.
FYI, Matlab has the same "more" command, but Matlab has it "off" by default
while Octave has it "on" by default.
