Follow-up Comment #19, bug #43298 (project octave):

Ben: you're compiling with gcc not llvm. I don't think anyone has had a
problem doing that. The problem arises when we try to build octave with llvm
3.5 or what is now the current apple compiler (based on 3.5). 

(You also have it running with magick, which is a known bug, so if you could
explain Id appreciate it, but that's a conversation for outside this bug
track.)
