Thanks for your bug report. I'm unable to reproduce this in a Debian 7 VM with
3.8.2-2~bpo70+1 installed from the backports repository. Do you have any
.octaverc files that might be customizing something? Does octave --norc change
anything for you? Do you see the same behavior if you run Octave without
--force-gui, or is it only when done in the GUI?
