Follow-up Comment #2, bug #45023 (project octave):

It is still an issue for octave 3.8.1 compiled on a mac (10.10.3) using
clang-omp with the --enable-openmp flag.

I can confirm that there is no problem using octave 4.1.0+ on GNU/Linux.
