Follow-up Comment #1:

Thanks for the patch.  This makes a lot of sense.  I committed it here
(http://hg.savannah.gnu.org/hgweb/octave/rev/10414d7a25f8) on the development
branch.  The only thing I did was change the commit message to add the bug
number at the end of the summary "(bug #45007)."  This helps us if we ever
have to undo or modify a changeset because we also know that we need to make
sure that we don't re-introduce that particular bug again.
