Looking at the warning messages,


[xcb] Most likely this is a multi-threaded client and XInitThreads has not
been called


made me think of bug #40343 which is about calling XInitThreads before
starting the GUI in order for Xlib to be thread-safe.

Perhaps it is worth trying the code there *in addition* to the LD_PRELOAD
step.  Maybe together the solution is even better.
