Follow-up Comment #19, bug #44682 (project octave):

I think that it would be ok to go with simpler solution for few reasons:

- fullfile () in general is not validating paths, it expects that path parts
are already valid.

- In MATLAB, fullfile('\server') will return '\server' which is maybe ok for
someone as intermediate full path result.
