Follow-up Comment #5, bug #45231 (project octave):
If the problem is with canonicalize_file_name() then we should report that to
gnulib since we use their version in order to get cross-platform
compatibility. I suppose in the meantime it would be okay to switch over to
Octave's own function of make_absolute_filename().
