Follow-up Comment #22, bug #45369 (project octave): For the issue of demos and tests, please refer to bug #41298 (which has an as-yet unreviewed patch). I think the idea there is to extract tests and demo blocks to separate files, following what Octave does in its own build. If that is done, there's no need to keep source files just to have demos and tests available.
