I'm clueless as regards fltk as well :-) 
As usual, I have very little time the coming weeks for unplanned bisecting
issues but I may have a look (my curiosity hasn't waned yet).
The point is that as it works fine on Linux, cross-builds using mxe are
required and that takes a lot of processing time; "attention time" is less of
an issue.
