Thanks for the bug report. The pdf works fine for me with a recently built
development version. Are there any errors in the PDF viewer other than these
messages? Are the corresponding sections visible?

Can you please try building again from a clean directory and verify that the
error is reproducible? If so, which OS and which version of evince are you
building Octave with?
