Hmm, looks like a bit of useless code, but anyway it works fine for me with
octave-4.0.1-rc4 on Windows 7.

takes 53 seconds.
With 4.1.0+ (dev version) is only takes 36 seconds.

What operating system? where did you get Octave from?
