Follow-up Comment #9, bug #47314 (project octave):
Olaf, I can confirm Ray's description of the mathematics.
The mnemonic I use to remember that equality constraints can be either
positive or negative whereas for inequalities they can be chosen to be always
positive, is that inequalities have an intrinsic "direction" whereas
equalities do not.
