Thanks for filing a bug report. I don't see how this could be a bug with
Octave, but please do provide more information to show that it is.

What does "make" report as the installation prefix? For example,


Octave successfully built.  Now choose from the following:

   ./run-octave    - to run in place to test before installing
   make check      - to run the tests
   make install    - to install (PREFIX=/usr/local)



After running "make install" is octave in the PREFIX/bin directory? If you
have the right permissions to install files in that directory it should be
there.
