Is there a simple motivating example for this that shows the incompatibility?
The textscan help is confusing when talking abstractly about whitespace and
input rows and delimiters and end of line characters. Something like this
maybe?
textscan(sprintf('one\ntwo\nthree\nfour\n'), '%s %s')
