Follow-up Comment #5, bug #47568 (project octave):
@Michael: In this case, I think the reporter was getting fails during 'make
check' which means they were still using run-octave from the build tree.
As you say, it is also possible after several 'make install' invocations to
accumulate cruft in the wider file system. This is why jwe likes installing
into a local directory that you can just delete entirely.
