Thanks for the bug report, but this is not a bug in Octave, this is a question
about how to use Mercurial.
It looks like you ran ./bootstrap --bootstrap-sync, which copies the latest
bootstrap script from gnulib. You probably just want to hg revert bootstrap.
If that doesn't solve the problem or you have other questions about using
Mercurial for Octave development, please ask on the maintainers mailing list,
not a bug report.
