Follow-up Comment #28:

I tried the latest patch to the dev tree.
The example cited in comment #8 and comment #9 run in 1.9 s instead of ~40 s
w/o patch. Not bad.

PASSES 13 out of 13 tests


Input validation works AFAICS. "ranks (1, 2, 3)" is accepted (although DIMS =
2) and returns 1, but I don't know if this is fine.

And the patch applies cleanly.
