Follow-up Comment #48, bug #47974 (project octave):
Attached is a small patch to fix this particular patch edgecolor problem.
There are probably other situations where color can be specified as an RGB
triad rather than palette indexing, but let's get on the right track first
instead of making large-scale changes.
