Follow-up Comment #19, bug #44776 (project octave):

Is this the black background problem in qt5 or qt4? In qt5 I'm seeing a black
background an awful lot with or without this patch.

I will take a look at what's causing the black background, but without this
patch you cannot maximize an octave UI window on any platform and expect any
component to be correct.
