Follow-up Comment #3, bug #48843 (project octave):

GNU Octave I installed is the latest 4.0.3 version.  I have been trying it for
the past two weeks or so to get a feel.  I had Matlab experience before. 
Octave is a nice representation, but with occasional glitches.  On this issue,
I did reinstall and restart the system.  Now it's okay.  I don't know whether
the reinstallation or the restart fixed the issue.  So far I am not seeing
this error now.
