Follow-up Comment #2, bug #48881 (project octave):

To configure qtchooser, place a file like the following in your
$HOME/.config/qtchooser directory:


$ cat ~/.config/qtchooser/qt5.conf 
/usr/local/lib/my-qt5/bin
/usr/local/lib/my-qt5


Then qtchooser's symlinks should be able to find the correct paths to the real
programs without having to add them to PATH.
