@Rik: I attched a new patch a per your comments.
Unfortunately for ps, pdf and other vector outputs this is not as easy:
antialiasing is the work of the rasterizing engine of your viewer/printer.
There seems to be an "/interpolate" directive in postscript language that is
off by default, and that gl2ps doesn't change. So gl2ps is not guilty here.
