Follow-up Comment #22, bug #45610 (project octave):

I haven't found a proper bug tracker for Qscintilla. There is one for
Scintilla, but this problem seems to be specific to the Qt port. (At least
this seemed to be Dan's judgement on this.)

What I found is Dan's question on the Qscintilla discussion list:

there seems to be no answer to Dan's question for the last 14 months now.

So I would assume that we cannot change the behavior of Qscintilla. Therefor
my opinion would be to work around this Qscintilla behavior.
