Follow-up Comment #16, bug #49214 (project octave):
So the root cause seems to be: The readline library does not support writing
to Windows files with "hidden" attribute. (We might change the title
accordingly.)
I would find it a good feature, if Octave could do this (writing into "hidden"
files). Not only for the mentioned use case of a hidden .octave_hist file, but
in general (e.g. with fopen). (I assume Matlab or Pyhton do not have a problem
with this.)
Does someone know where such a feature request for the readline library could
be submitted?
