Follow-up Comment #11, bug #49222 (project octave): Philip, thank you for reviewing and accepting so quickly. Would it be OK to pass an additional argument to tidyxml to indicate in which direction the conversion should be done (UTF-8 to Unicode or vice versa)? Matlab has the functions native2unicode and unicode2native which can be used to do these conversions. Maybe we could add functions for utf82unicode and unicode2utf8 until the former are available in core Octave.
