Update of bug #50183 (project octave): Open/Closed: Open => Closed _______________________________________________________ Follow-up Comment #32: The use of OCTAVE_INITFILE was only an example of how the file might not be what Octave was looking for. There are other ways as well. As Mike said, the sitewide file is called "octaverc" without the preceding '.', not ".octaverc" that you searched for. That's why its best to let Octave figure out whether it is the site-wide file that is causing the problem by checking if octave --no-site-file works. I also think that this is too old a bug to fix.
