Follow-up Comment #24, bug #51512 (project octave):
Looking into the row/column span files logic, I think it would require a lot
of code to mimic this in Octave ( / OF-io).
I'd prefer to leave this as-is for now.
I'll experiment a little bit with leaving out the '|' chars in regexp
templates and replace them by separate regexps.
