@Dan: I changed an instance where you had used '%' as a comment character to
"##". I checked it in on the stable branch here

I'm going to close this bug report since the issue raised, and the test case,
now pass. If there is a different problem with PNG images and saturated
colors then please open up a new report with a new example for that.
